Time to Write - working from home.
This last week has been a marathon writing fest here. I've managed 15,000 words over four and a half days and am happy with the output. The book is flowing well and even with all the interruptions that occur when you work from home I am still ahead of schedule by five weeks.
Working from home presents so many challenges, most people just don't get the fact that there are times when it is not appropriate to just call in for a coffee and a chat. Much as I love company, when I am writing I prefer not to be interrupted constantly. I set aside one day a week for visitors and would prefer it if people came then. There seems to be a misconception that writers are playing, I just can't seem to convince some people that I am as serious about my work as they are about theirs.
I wonder how many other writers have the same issues?
Being taken seriously in my work is important for me and I believe that one day it will happen, but until then "Come on in, the coffee is hot." Said with a smile through gritted teeth.
