Needle in a Haystack

I'm new to social media and I can only say, rrrggghhh! I'm trying to like it because I'm told it's the only way an author can make it these days. I love to write and I would like some readers, but I hate self-promotion. I'm considering stuffing all my future written pages into a steel canister and burying the canister for coming generations to uncover. Or, maybe for aliens to discover? After reading some of my work, let me know if you think this might be my best course of action.

My book was published in the middle of my first term back to school in way too many years to reveal and now I'm trying to get myself onto all the helpful social sites

I write with a focus on women's issues and human trafficking. I live in the Pacific Northwest and today is a rare sunny day in March, so, this post is over. I'm getting on my bike and taking a ride. If I see a haystack along the way that might contain the needle to stitch together Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, etc., I'm going to peddle right on past. The social threads will have to wait for a rainy day in a week other than spring break.
