SCAMS SCHEMES SCUMBAGS & RIDE THE TIGER

Peter Betts and I just did a book signing today at Anne's Book Carnival in Orange, CA. It was a great crowd and we shared the spotlight with 2 other Pat and Peter(s)––
P.A. Staes with her new mystery book, The Bruges Tapestry, and Pete Goodman's Blood on the Stone.
The 4 of us talked about our books and sold some books. Everyone had a great time and we thanked Anne Saller for inviting us to her lovely bookstore.
Best wishes

Pat - Silver-Lasky Comment on my new publication THE OFFER:
This epic, dynastic novel sweeps across more than half a century of passion, hatred, friendship and fear––tracing the entwined fortunes of two families in Palestine: one Arab, one Jewish. From the day in the late nineteenth century when a young Hammadi boy and two Nouri brothers meet on the road to Jerusalem and form a partnership, there seems no limit to the growth of their banking empire. Together they conquer the international markets: London, Paris and New York, until a hidden crack threatens their apparently unshakeable friendship: The Zionist dream of Israel seeking reality. The pressure relentlessly builds, driving the two families further apart.

THE OFFER is a sprawling saga and a chronicle of destiny of two peoples sharing one land. It is compelling drama on the grand scale, peopled by the men and women whose dreams and ambitions continue to affect us all today.
The timeline of historic events has been brought up to the present.

REVIEWS: FROM first publication

A sweeping, tautly written dynastic saga…a complex, passion-filled drama… with historical figures mingle with vivid fictional characters…Publisher's Weekly

…A magnificent novel, as rich in detail as it is sweeping in scope. Highly recommended. Library Journal

Can Arabs and Jews be friends? In this pertinent novel…vivid emotional and factual writing by the authors is backed by multi-perceptions of both sides of the battle. L.A. Times

'The Offer' (which refers to the Balfour Declaration) is infused with both the sort of human drama and historical grandeur that cry out for cinematic expression…. Not only are both their actual and fictional characters well-drawn, but the authors have integrated them into a virtually seamless narrative … The Jewish Week-American Examiner, October

An absorbing novel, The Offer is also an introduction to the political history of Palestine during the last century. This is a novel of action and tragedy - not pathos - particularly for American readers …The Birmingham News

A big novel with the earmarks of a blockbuster…High conflict lives, Zionism, Nazi-ism, betrayals, seductions, madness, and modern history … compelling plot elements… The American Library Ass. Booklist

Panoramic? Epic? Stupendous? Colossal? Timeless as history, yet current as today's headlines … This would make a feature or a TV Mini Series which could be a sort of Jewish-Arab 'Roots' with a bit of 'Dallas' Jerusalem thrown in. Daily Variety

This book has everything: Love, sex, terrorism, sadism, perversion, irony of sorts, historical documents (I suppose the quotes are accurate) nostalgic settings… The history of the two families is used to present the 20th century politics that led to the current Middle East crisis… El Paso Herald-Post
