I went to the supermarket this morning with a whole bunch of change in a plastic bag inside a paper bag. They have one of those machines that converts change into Amazon gift certificates, so I stood there pouring all my change into it and feeling embarrassed, hunching over the intake, trying to make myself anonymous.
The machine took all my change, but it kept returning the same quarter to me. It looked fine, maybe a little worn. I'd put it in and the machine's immune system would reject it. Finally I put it in my pocket.
At home I looked again. It was dated 1964, the last year quarters were made with silver.
Anyway, I'm not paying people on Fiverr for fake positive reviews of my book.
