Is it possible for an inherently brave person to feel fear to the point where they begin to doubt their ability? That is the question currently plaguing James Hunter currently. I've already established in the previous book that Hunter has displays an inherent coolness under fire and an ability to maintain command in a critical situation. So for Hunter to find himself in a position where fear has seemingly overwhelmed his self-confidence can't be a good thing, right? Is fear a good thing for a leader to experience? Is it all a matter of how fear is dealt with when it occurs? Or has Hunter realized his worst nightmare has come true, that he has lost the ability to command his ship?
