I am finishing up a book tour of the Southeast. It's been fun. Met some amazing booksellers and some folks who loved the book. I got to talk to an audience of 1,000 at one point (I was one of six authors hosted by the Junior League of Richmond, VA), and also faced a few nearly empty bookstores and rainy evenings.
This morning I am in Asheville, NC visiting a friend after my reading at Malaprops bookstore last night. There is a wren nesting outside the back door and the grass has just been cut. It smells wonderful here—very unlike Florida. I am on red clay again. I am staying with the friend who gave me the idea for Adam's voice. Years ago, she was awakened one morning by a beautiful tone that moved through her body, a sound without apparent origin that left her in a state of euphoria for hours.
