Did you vote yesterday? I did yet I wonder was it worth it. With a hung parliament well hope that it will bring about change, though it is hard to see how it will. Labour and the Tories are now getting support from Nick Clegg in the hope of getting the overall majority. He of course will make the best deal for his party and so forget many of the promises made to the voters. Sound to me that little has changed and that we will all end up on the losing side.
Another week of fruitless searching for a job. Day in, day out the jobcentre website seems to offer nothing. I have a feeling things may get worse with the election going the way it did. I hope I’m wrong yet really think that things are going to get a lot tighter in the job market. Both the Conservatives and Labour have said during campaigning that there was going to be cuts to public spending. This will lead to greater numbers of people joining myself in the search for work. It feels if I’m returning to the eighties when I couldn’t get a job after leaving school. It took me a very long time to find my first job and I don’t want to wait that long again.
I have, on a lighter note, made good progress with Banshee 2. Editing of what I have already written has gone really well, which is now put me on track to reach for the finishing line on the first draft. I can now see the link to the end that I have visualized. It has also opened the idea of a different ending to that. This is something that may not be as good as what I had in mind but I will need to think about it some more. That might be because I have seen the first one in my head for so long. It isn’t that the other ending is bad though. As I said, I will need to think it over as I carry on writing the remaining chapters, maybe they will tell me what would make the better ending to this one.

Yngvild I'm happy with "none of the above", which is how I read a hung parliament, although I didn't guess just how poorly the Lib-Dem's would fare. They were my best choice for "neither of the two main parties", although I'd have settled for the Loony Party candidate if there'd been one.

Since Cameron will be driven to increase his majority quickly to get a majority in next year's election, my guess is for his (or less likely Brown's) pushing for more government jobs - the only place where he has real control, even if it means worsening the deficit.

Billy Young Yes, I agree it would have been good to see the Lib-Dem's do better. Now we just have to see where this will all leave us. More national debt or will the Tories get the power they are looking for through a deal with the Lib's and the big cuts that Cameron wants, that is the big question. I dread cuts for it will lead to greater hardships for those, such as myself, that are struggling as it is. Yet some form of savings are bound to happen what ever happens.

Laura To be honest im just looking for a quick resolution. I can't stand the idea of getting Labour in again as they have now been in power for the majority of my life and no-one seems to be happy. Also to be honest i feel with labour that its becomming a dictatorship.

I hope that the libs make a coalition with Conservative as this would in my eyes make more sense (as labour would need the support of the lib dems and the other parties to have a majority).

Billy Young I believe it would really be better for the country if there was no deals. It is possible for the Tories to have a minority government and run the country on an issue by issue basis. This is how the Nats in Scotland are running things and managing very well so far.

Laura Seems like a sensible answer to me too. Especially as if they went by numbers of people voting and not by seat in parliment, Tories do have the majority vote. Needs to be resolved whatever the decision however as the value of the pound is sinking!
