I'm so proud of my friend. He and his dog serve on a search and rescue team that travel around the country doing incredibly hard work during emergencies. He just returned from Oklahoma and I'm sure it wasn't an easy trip.

If you've never stopped to think about what search and rescue handlers and their dogs do, they train tirelessly, study an endless list of topics to be prepared to handle anything that comes up, leave their families and jobs during deployment, wait on standby for hours and sometimes days and then work through exhaustion and emotional stress in the face of natural and other disasters.
