Poetry

This week’s blog will be on poetry. What is poetry? Is it the art of rhyming? Is it about emotion? Is it ones random thoughts put out on paper? What is poetry?
To answer this question, one must look into his/her own heart. What is poetry to you? That is the key question, is it not?
Inspiration: That is the root of all great work. What is it that inspires you? What inspires me?. Well, I’m glad you asked. I am inspired by a quite a few different things; one of my greatest inspirations is nature. Maybe you my good reader can relate. For instance I love to go outdoors and sit or walk around observing the world of the smaller creatures. The songs of the birds the quiet squirrels leaping from tree to tree. How the breeze blows the tall grass making in sway as if dancing.
Then think of the emotional side of inspiration. What emotions inspire you to write poetry? Joy perhaps might spark your creative flow, or pain, love, romance, passion. These are some of what makes up poetry and a poet.
It is often a bit frightening to a person to delve too far into their own heart or mind. Opening those locked doors within their psyche. But it is my promise to you that behind those doors, often lays the best inspiration.
So in the end, I truly believe that inspiration is the answer to what’s behind poetry. Love, pain, passion, joy and the secrets locked within you. These things are what make poetry. But you must never forget to “Find your own unique stride” as M.R Keating (Robin Williams) said in The Dead Poet Society. Find your own unique way to express yourself through Poetry.
Well I hope that this (my first blog) has shed some light on poetry for you all, and perhaps inspired you to all become great poets yourselves. Nothing is impossible, if you keep on believing. Till next week my good friends and readers;

Yours Truly:
P.A. Henley
