WorldReader

I had the great honour of receiving the following email.

I'm emailing you today because we've had a request to use your story, The deadly tap of a cane.

Just to briefly explain, we've recently formed a partnership with a charitable organisation called WorldReader (http://www.worldreader.org) that aim to help spread ebooks and literacy in developing countries. The way they work is that they take tablets and kindles and they load them up with ebooks and learning materials, and then they send them to schools in developing countries. They're a really great organisation and are backed by Amazon and all the big publishing houses.

Recently they've asked us for all the best content on our site, and we're happy to support them. Giving your story to WorldReader won't really affect your readership in the West. But it will help kids in developing countries improve their English by reading something a bit more entertaining and a bit more relevant to today's world than Charles Dickens or William Shakespeare.

Simply put, there's no downside for you and it means you'll be getting more readers across the world, and doing something good at the same time. I really hope that you're willing to participate and let WorldReader use your story.

Since you're the copyright owner we'll need you to (digitally) sign a contract saying that you agree to let WorldReader publish your story through their program.

I of course have said yes and i have to admit i have a huge grin on my face.

The story is taken for one of my books of short stories called 'Tales of Solomon Pace' Tales of Solomon Pace by Alan Scott
