I discovered too late that the title I had carefully chosen for my book of short stories "Found Money"was already in use by a slew of authors. See 'em lining up in the Amazon page, grinning horribly at me! Really I should have known better. My very first book, a thriller named "Escape to Danger" had the title not only of another book or two but also of a movie.
So, why am I excited? In two days' time I will be notified of the winners of the 10 books I'm sending out to reviewers picked by Goodreads. This time I am fully aware of the risk. Some time ago I gave away another book for review and not one of the people who were sent it actually reviewed it. This time I am sending positive energy to each of the recipients as I mail the book. That will help them to dip in to see what it is all about. Then my friends the stories themselves will make sure the chosen few will want to read and review my lovely book.
Good luck, Found Money!
I would very much appreciate the opportunity to interview you for your advice to aspiring authors in the following weeks. Would you have just ten minutes to discuss your work in a video interview over Skype (or your favorite video-call program)? I would appreciate it because my readers, all fledgling writers, would greatly benefit.
I contact you in particular because of the interesting premise of your short story collection Found Money, and I would like to start the interview with where you get your inspiration. You have also avoided “branding” your work – dark fantasy or romance or dark steampunk romantic thriller – and if I see clearly, go wherever your imagination takes you. I am sure my readers will be interested in that.
In addition to questions I will supply, I would like to cover any other advice you consider essential for my readers. So I would invite you to recommend any other pertinent points.
