Will you be watching "Under the Dome"?

I will be watching. Although I think I might try to read the book before I do.

And it's about time I read the book considering I bought it when it was first released. That kind of tells you how behind I am in my reading and also an indication of how many books I buy.

As a matter of fact, I am just now 1/4 of the way through "11/22/63", but that of course was published after "Under the Dome" (and I just picked up "Inside Scientology" today at the library to interrupt progress with "11/22/1963").

But I'd like to read "Under the Dome" first for no other reason than it is most common for me to to like the film/mini-series/TV show version of almost anything less than the book. And I don't want this TV series to ruin that novel for me.

I suspect most avid book readers would feel the same way.

Because even the best film and TV adaptations pale in comparison to most novels. And that goes for Mr. King's books too.

Sure, there are some great ones, but even the "The Shining", which ranks as both one of my favorite books and one of my favorite movies (the 1990's mini-series was watchable but didn't really do anything for me), if forced to choose I'd pick the book.

So I wonder, how many Stephen King fans are excited for the 13 episodes of "Under the Dome"? And does anyone expect to like the TV series better than the book?
