The Lonely Man
After a couple months of silence, I'm ready to break my vigilance and, with merriment and exclamations, declaim that "The Lonely Man" is one edit away from being complete! Yes. Done and done.
I'm not going to talk about the book in too much detail now, not until I've stamped my last on the final page. This post is more of a refresher, seeing as how I've let my blog go to a graveyard, a graveyard not even inhabited by spooks or goth kids. Yup. Onward!
The last couple of months I've kept a fairly strict schedule for the writing of this book. Which is a bit of a different process than I normally undergo. With "The Lonely Man" I set daily word count reaches, and didn't stop writing until I hit them. Sometimes this meant I was spewing out crap in a race to hit the count and take a break. Which, I admit, is a fault of my own laziness. But I made up for those slights during the hours where the story poured forth in a torrent. Those are the sessions I absolutely love. When I struggle to make a word count, writing feels like a chore, like a post that has me shackled to it, and no matter how hard I rattle my chains, I'm trapped. It's only in those instances when the story is all-consuming and exploding out of me that I'm reminded of the joys that come with writing. Of course, these two go hand in hand, and prove that serious writing takes serious effort.
While writing "The Lonely Man" I have written it exclusively. That means I have not touched Visions, and I have not begun to write the prequel novella to "The Pale Hand of God." Or course, the latter was in response to my Kickstarter project, which, unfortunately, wasn't funded. (Sincere thanks to those that backed me). Now, with the finish of "The Lonely Man" I plan to start in on Book One of Visions, which at the same time sporadically writing another book in The Lonely Man line.
As soon as the prologue is done being editing--which is going to be first on my to-do list--I will post it here on the site, and provide the ever helpful tweets and links.
