Loving Myself is Not Always Easy

I know myself better than anyone and the world has taught me to be so very judgmental of my failings, mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. I was taught growing up that what I thought didn’t matter, that I should be quiet and not seen if at all possible.

For years I have slowly but surely become stronger and speaking up more for myself. Even with all the healing that I have done, days like today are difficult for me. My book, that many have said good things about, is in the spotlight and I can’t help but cringe.

Somewhere in me I know that my poetry is good, is different, and is helpful. But another part of me, the little girl that was mocked and made to flinch, she sneers and says it will never be good enough.

That’s why I started pulling cards from my Angelic Messenger Cards by Meredith L. Young-Sowers again. They always make me feel like I am being held lovingly by the angels while I go through whatever growing pains I am going through at the time.

Yesterday I pulled the Love card. It is the first card in the deck and it probably is not what you would expect, or maybe you would.

“Seeking clarity through spiritual awareness.” Is the challenge of this card and seems pretty perfect. I mean knowing that there is something greater than me, that loves me unconditionally, remembering that can go a long way toward helping me love myself more; to be more forgiving of my mistakes because my higher self and the source of all most definitely does.

The good news is that whatever I am feeling I know will change in a moment, a day, a month; that I will learn to have more compassion for myself and others.

Loving myself isn’t always easy, but maybe someday it will be.

What is being said about Dancing within Shadow and the poetry within the pages:

“The images are fantastic; the whole thing is so creative (and full of surprises!) Energy in Motion is a sensual, sweaty, lusty, Tantric delight. Who I am brought tears to my eyes (again!) what a great way to end the book!” ~Julie Jordan Scott, Julie Unplugged

“What I love about this little book is that Morgan has expressed some of the pain she experienced in her childhood in such a manner that anyone that has suffered at some point can wrap themselves up in her insight and inspiration. She provides few details and does not linger long before she moves on to the process of growing out of that pain, growing into something beautiful and fulfilling. She takes your hand and leads you into her world.” Victoria Adams, Victoria’s Reading Alcove.
