For our first month at the Historical Reader Salon, I thought we’d talk about The Keeper Shelf. We all have one… It may evolve and change over the years—I know mine has—but there are those books we just can’t let go of.
On my top shelf? Lisa Kleypas, Julie Garwood, Johanna Lindsay, Sabrina Jefferies and Julia Quinn. (Luckily I have VERY wide bookshelves!) My second shelf is populated with Elizabeth Hoyt, Tracy Anne Warren, Sherry Thomas, Sarah MacLean, Pamela Britton, Stephanie Laurens, Meredith Duran and Tessa Dare. Shelf Three? Jude Devereaux, Janelle Taylor, Sophia Nash and Laura Kinsale. I’m also lucky to have Shelves Four and Five…
Not every book I’ve read from my favorite authors makes the Shelf—just the ones that touch me so much I want to read them again and again and again!
So this month, let’s share what’s on our Keeper Shelves and why. At the end of the month, FIVE winners will win a book from MY keeper shelves… (Enter through the Rafflecopter form, please! Can enter each day of July)
a Rafflecopter giveaway I’ll go first in the comments below…

1.A knight in shining armor, by: Jude Deveraux:
Why?
A. one of my all time favorite time travel romances
(gd time travel romances are very hard to find.)
B. it's one of the few novels that I've read more
than once.
C. Unpredictable (Rare in romance novels).
D. This novel alone made me laugh, smile, sad, angry,
and it actually made me cry. In my opinion, a novel
that can move someone to feel all these emotions is a
worthy novel to be placed in the keeper shelf.
2. yours until Dawn, by: Teresa Medeiros:
Why?
A. Unforgettable, three-dimensional characters. They
felt so real I could almost touch them. The chemistry
between the characters was so real I was envious.
B. This novel moved me so much it touched in a way
only an amazing novel can.
c. It made me laugh, smile, sad, angry. And
surprisingly shocked.
D. Unpredictable. (Like I said I was shocked.)
3. Romancing Mr. Bridgerton , by: Julia Quinn:
Why?
A. Ever since I read the series the H/h were my
favourite characters (specially the Hero) To see them
together...Specially when Colin said he wouldn't
marry Penelope in the previous book.
B. It made me laugh so hard. Julia Quinn always makes
me laugh.
c. Unpredictable. (I was surprised by the identity of
Lady whistledown)
4. Devil in winter, by: Lisa Kleypas.
why?
Only Kleypas can turn a villain in one novel into a hero of another novel. I never thought it would work but it did really well. The big surprise is the Heroine, who was Evie. I never thought they would mesh together, but OH MY, they meshed so well they became one :P :P. The chemistry felt so real.
I have a lot more on my keeper shelf. To name a few...
1. The viscount who loved me by Juila Quinn.
2. Ransom by Julie Garwood.
3. Twin of ice by Jude Deveraux.
4. A Summer to Remember by Mary Balogh.
5. One Perfect Rose by Mary Jo Putney.
