For those that follow my facebook page for the Trilogy, you’ll know I’ve mentioned that the draft for AfterBurn is taking longer than  Awakening or Feel the Burn did. Partly this is because I don’t have the story as well planned out as the previous two books, and partly—as I’ve just discovered—it’s because the writing was wrong.Not all of it! Thankfully ;p just Elena’s POV.I think it stems from not knowing enough about Elena. So that’s what I’m having fun drafting now, her history. There are bits and pieces I already know, but now I’m figuring out how they link up and why. And now that I’m working that out, finally AfterBurn feels a little bit closer *grin*. In the meantime, as I make copious notes, I’m having fun with re-working book one. It’s giving me the opportunity to put show more of the girls’ characters instead of waiting for book two for development. I’m also switching and/or removing the occasional POV. It’s all time consuming work but I really want to be fully satisfied with The Arrival. I can’t wait to get it into print!My current other sources of inspiration are Game of Thrones—I’m on to book four and enjoying it more now that (sorry to those that love them) a lot of the boring characters are gone ;p though I don’t think I’ll have any major desire to read beyond book four. Maybe I’ll continue in the future when he finally finish’s the series!I’m doing the same with the Outlander series at the moment. As much as I love the books I just haven’t any current desire to read the latest book. Again I think I’ll wait till she’s done ;p And my other current inspiration (minor obsession) is The White Queen. I watch it each Wednesday morning while pedaling away madly on the spin bike (best invention ever – no more excuses for not doing exercise in winter!). Because I have to wait for each episode I’m watching Treehouse Masters on Monday and Friday. All in all, lots of gorgeous things and fabulous characters floating around in my head!
