Exposing yourself in a vacant lot

My agent, Nicole Aragi, was interviewed by Guernica, a literary magazine on July 1st of this year and had some interesting things to say about the publishing industry. If you are have any interest in why a second novel may be difficult to sell take a look at the article. I can't figure out how to attach the link, so....."seek and ye shall find."

I was a screenwriter for many years and learned that writing scripts that don't get made into movies is like exposing yourself in vacant lot. You may derive some personal pleasure from the act but you seldom draw a crowd.

I am now realizing that writing novels has the same perils except that when you finish a book, it is all yours and you can't blame the director for whatever might have gone wrong with your story.
