The Art of Fiction on Art, Part III
Unfortunately, Goodreads cut off the end of my list. Apparently it was too long. Here it is:
THE OTHER REMBRANDT, Alex Connor. The less well-known side of the giant of Dutch painting.
THE PAINTED KISS, Elizabeth Hickey. Gustav Klimt and his mistress Emilie Flôge.
THE PASSION OF ARTEMISIA, Susan Vreeland. Despite rape and scandal, the historic Artemisia Gentileschi forges successful career in male-dominated Rome, Florence, and Genoa.
THE REMBRANDT AFFAIR, Daniel Silva. A spy novel in which the protagonist seeks a lost Rembrandt previously owned by Holocaust victioms and then terrorists.
THE RUBY RING, Diane Haeger. Raphael's beloved Margherita recalls him after his death.
THE SUNFLOWERS, Sheramy D. Bundrick. A free-handed imagining of van Gogh's relationships with the prostitute Rachel, and the painter Gauguin clouded by bouts of madness.
THE UNDERPAINTER Jane Urquhart. Invented elderly artist paints events and people in his life.
UNDERWORLD, Don DeLillo, In the author's exploration of connections in the 20th century, Klara Sax, decorator of former warplanes, makes an appearance.
WITH VIOLETS, Elizabeth Robards. A imagined rendering of Berthe Morisot's relationship with Eduard Manet.
THE WOMAN WHO HEARD COLOR. An imaginative spin on an art detective seeking to uncover art stolen for Hitler.

Reading, Thinking, and Writing with Susan Vreeland
Hello, and welcome to my new blog. I must admit I am a neophyte to blogs. Does that make me a blogophyte? Sounds like some prehistoric one-celled creature. My dictionary defines neophyte as a newcomer
Hello, and welcome to my new blog. I must admit I am a neophyte to blogs. Does that make me a blogophyte? Sounds like some prehistoric one-celled creature. My dictionary defines neophyte as a newcomer to a belief. I suppose that applies to me and the belief that people will read what I write here. I propose to comment on the books I'm reading and especially the one I'm writing. I'll also offer little reports of my book events. Since I'm fascinated by words (as you can see), I might feature a word new to me.
