Dreaming a Lesbian Vampire

J. Sheridan LeFanu. Most of us know this author for his famous short story Green Tea about a demon monkey. LeFanu's Carmilla is a short story that is quite different, and especially because this story is the first lesbian vampire in 19th century literature. It's an intriguing tale and tastefully done. Werner Paula, Carmilla is one of my favorite works of vampire fiction1 For anyone who's interested, my review is here: www.goodreads.com/review/show/18368275 .

Personally, I see the "lesbian" undercurrent here as qualified. I don't think it involves physical intercourse --but, of course, there are other aspects of sexuality than the strictly genital type.
