J. Sheridan LeFanu. Most of us know this author for his famous short story Green Tea about a demon monkey. LeFanu's Carmilla is a short story that is quite different, and especially because this story is the first lesbian vampire in 19th century literature. It's an intriguing tale and tastefully done. Personally, I see the "lesbian" undercurrent here as qualified. I don't think it involves physical intercourse --but, of course, there are other aspects of sexuality than the strictly genital type.
