Taking off!

Greetings Fellow Readers!

Today I would like to talk about watching others climb to success. It's almost a bittersweet process; you're happy for them, and it's inspiring to watch someone embark on that incredible journey and achieve their ultimate goals. But, at the same time, you can't help but raise the question "When will that happen to me?"

I feel that one of the biggest ways to success is to relish in other's success, and instead of focusing on the "when will that happen to me?" question, take it as an inspiration and a knowing that it can and does happen: if you are determined enough, and follow your heart it WILL happen to you.

I've witnessed an incredible journey with now bestselling author, Hugh Howey. I am not only inspired, but motivated by his abilities, his mad writing skills, and his story of success.

I remember when he was only a part-time writer, far from a bestseller, and spent a lot of his Friday nights at the Watauga County Public Library writing with the small group of teens in our writing club.

Even the very first night Hugh showed up and read an excerpt from his Molly Fyde book (remember this was before WOOL) we all believed in him. There was no doubt in our small teenage writing-brains that he would soon be a smash. Little did we know how much he would take off. Now he's hit the best-seller lists and quite a few of my friends don't believe me when I say I knew him.

Hugh is not only an exceptional writer, but an extraordinary person as well. I cannot tell you how much he has been supportive of all of us in the teen writing group. Every meeting he would stop whatever he was working on to listen to our excerpts and then offer his advice along with what he liked best. He was honest, and truly believed in all of us; which was just what we needed.

It's been an honor to watch him excel and an amazing inspiration.

I was even lucky enough to score an exclusive interview with him! Go ahead and check it out on Examiner.com
