I must admit, the first blog is a bit like the first day ...

I must admit, the first blog is a bit like the first day at a new school. There is a mixed level of excitement and anxiety about it... Will they like me? How will I fit in to this new world? Which one of my embarrassing character traits will seize this opportunity to completely expose the fact that I'm really quite goofy? It goes on and on! But, like the first day of school, we all eventually walk in, look around, introduce ourselves and find that we just might fit in after all. So, with that being said... Hello! My name is Jen Lindgren-Brown and I am delighted to be here.
I can not speak for all writers, or any other writer for that matter. But I am a bit of a scatter-brain. There are moments of a day or situations in life where words and thoughts come out differently-where stories, thoughts and inspirations hit my mind and part of the fun is seeing where they go... This blog will reflect that. I'd like to take little journeys with you- occasional adventures that span from reflections on writers who I find brilliant and inspirational to little tid-bits of information about the characters and story lines from Georgie Green and all of the random or precisely executed mutterings that come between.
A little history, I think, for this debut... I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been raised by book lovers. These book lovers come in the form of assorted parents, step-parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and a few of those long-time family friends who everyone forgets are not technically "family". All have extremely different tastes in what they enjoy reading and all have strong opinions they enjoy sharing. This village of influence provided me with a hodge-podge foundation to build my own literary passions upon.
It all started with my mum reading Shel Silverstein's The Giving Tree to me every night until I began reading along then reading aloud, a story I can still recite to this day, though I will never be able to do the voices as well as she. (My own daughter may argue in my defense that I've got a reasonable repertoire of recitation... or perhaps she'll admit to it when she's grown!) From there I never looked back, through Judy Blume, Charles Dickens, Stephen King and Shakespeare! The words create art and I am overjoyed to be entering a world where I can only hope to contribute stories that will make someone smile, laugh, cry and cheer!
Thank you for stopping in... I hope you will again! With the first post over, the fun can begin! Until next time, All the best to you!
Jen Lindgren-Brown
