Leaving Goodreads?

Hmm, it seems since I have an "author page" I can't do "status updates," only blog posts. Maybe someone more familiar with Goodreads can tell me what I am doing wrong.

Anyway, I am just wondering how many of my friends are actually planning to leave Goodreads? I am rather annoyed with the current brouhaha over "author-bashing" reviews, but I still prefer GR to any other bookish social media site I've looked at, so I am rather reluctant to just abandon it.

Traveller Hi David!
I for one, will probably never delete my account here, unless they do something to make me really angry. I don't want to leave--I'm too involved with groups here and with the community in general. One never knows what might happen in the future, though.

What we are agitating for at the moment, is for GR to make some refinements to their policy changes that would make us less vulnerable to arbitrary actions from their side.

Alicia Hello there, person I don't know whose recent blog post was just liked by a friend!

You can still do status updates. Did you figure out how yet? If not, I will gladly stick my nose in your business and tell you.

David Hi Alicia,

General status updates? Not connected to a book review or a blog post? How?

You're welcome. :)

Traveller Sadly they don't give you a lot of space in those update windows. This is the reason, I suspect, why so many people use them for images. A picture says a thousand words.

Robert As soon as I can do something elsewhere, I'm not doing it here anymore...

Traveller I don't like the idea of us all dispersing into the out there... just when I'd collected myself a nice circle of friends... :(

..but of course, there will be the point where it becomes intolerable, and that point has almost been breached. Actually has been breached, though I'm hoping they'll backtrack. Really really hoping.

Derek I'll be here until they kick me off for persistently violating their "guidelines".
