If I had a million dollars...
Almost two years ago I wrote a post here about what I would do with a million dollars. I'd completely forgotten about that until today when, you guessed it, that amazing song by Barenaked Ladies was played on the radio as I was driving.
I love that song. "Haven't you always wanted a monkey?" Seriously, who hasn't?
Anyway, what would I do with a million dollars today?
1. I would buy some nice things for my little boys. Jakey saw a cool rocking horse at Costco the last time we went and he would go nuts on it. Or a motorized baby quad or something? I can just picture his little face scrunched up as he giggled and said "Vroom, vroom." And for Oliver I'd have to get him a high-tech, super comfy swing. Poor baby hates being put down (which is why he is wiggling in my lap right now) and so I could spend a few thousand dollars on a swing that he would actually love.
2. An acreage, near Bragg Creek where it is all gorgeous, because nature! It would have a nice home on it, bigger than the one we're in now, with lots of grass for my boys to play in, and a place for my puppy to run. Concrete backyards don't cut it for puppies and little boys, unfortunately.
3. Books! I haven't been reading as much as I usually do, probably due to my insane babies who I adore, and I miss it! So I would buy books... every book I see people reading on the train that looks interesting, every chick lit novel out there, every John Grisham book (although I already own most of those, to be fair), and any that have fun covers. And then I'd buy a really comfy recliner that comes with a beach house in Malibu, and I'd sit on my porch and listen to the ocean and read! That must be what heaven feels like. And I'd probably buy a bunch of copies of my novels and give them out to people who keep telling me they want to read them.
4. Get Stephen all the little gadgets that he'd like. He works so hard and I'd love tobuy him all the random desires of his heart... like a pizza brush... or gold plated corn-on-the-cob holders. Something nice because he's amazing.
5. A spa day... for me and my mom and sister and sister-in-laws and any other girls who want to come along for some nice relaxing. Facials and manicures (my nails are currently chipped and ugly as I types these words... sigh) and massages. Lovely.
6. School. I'm going to school now, but tuition is ridiculous. So I'd spend some of my million on my classes and then I wouldn't have to worry about money anymore.
7. Give away to random people... people I meet on the street, cashiers who are extra friendly, waitresses who are super attentive. I'd give them a wad of cash and walk away. How awesome would that be?!?!
Anyway, it's funny how different my responses are now compared to what they were a couple years ago when I wrote this same thing. You can read my old post here: http://whitneyjboyd.blogspot.ca/2012/01/i-i-had-million-dollars.html
What would you spend your money on?
And now I have that song "I wanna be a billionaire so freaking bad" going through my head. Oh boy. :) Apparently a million isn't enough!?
And, if you want to spend a couple dollars right now, check out my novels which are amazing. I sound arrogant. But they really are! Haha. Tanned, Toned and Totally Faking It , the story of a celebtiry caught up in Hollywood life. Iced Romance , the story of a highly publicized scandal that sends Kennedy on the run... escaping to a brand new life while trying to hide from her past. My third novel, In the Stars, will be released on November 12 and is honestly my best one yet. Keep watching for it!
