Yep, it’s that time of the year again:
NaNoWriMo kicked off today. It’s my first attempt in several years, but heaps of people I know are participating this time, which is a good part of the experience for me.
So day one, here’s my little word counter:
1758 words on Clouds of Safina, done! Above the average daily goal, though I do need to front-load my progress quite a bit to make up for all the other things eating my time in the last week of November.
I love how things develop when you just write – random things like not having realised the planet it is set on is primarily water. I’ve been reading a lot about the 1918/19 influenza pandemic, and reading about the (devastating) impact on pregnant women gave me a key part of my protagonist’s back story.
So hoping I finish this one. It’s looking good so far, but it’s usually mid-month when I struggle. Perhaps some word wars will see me through…
