I'm excited to hear that! I'll be patiently waiting!! :D Happy Holidays and all the best wishes to you.
Powerful, disturbing stuff, there. I'll also be watching for your next book. I'm wondering what genre you would characterize this book as, and how you feel when you see it in "erotica" type of lists? I'm familiar with dark erotica and I've read rape-as-erotica (as well as fictionalized rape designed to be stimulating), but this did not strike me as that type of story at all.
Hi, Gracie,I very much appreciate your thoughtful comments; good question.I think it's clear that Break Her is not erotica. It was very intentionally non-erotic. "Not that there's anything wrong with that." It's just not what I was aiming for. But I don't object and am in fact quite proud to be on those "erotica" type lists. A) because I'm just glad that anyone is reading it. B) because the erotica and especially the dark erotica readers were some of my earliest and most enthusiastic readers and were open-minded enough to give my book a chance. And C) because many of my readers are stunningly aware that it's not erotica but want to share their reactions to it, in whatever forum suits them. So I'm cool with that.
I don't know what genre this book is, though. It could be called (and I do) crime fiction. Or is it literary fiction? Women's fiction? Is there a category for "transgressive fiction?" I don't know. Frankly, I kind of have some issues regarding genre. Sometimes, what you get classified as is primarily a function of who publishes you.
So I can't really say what the answer is. I think in this book I tackle some of the most important issues in life. I want people to read it. I'm happy to take what I can get. And I know how lucky I've been.
Thanks again for contacting me. I'll be sure to let you know when the next one is out.
Best,
B.G.
I'd have to go on too B.G because I really wouldn't know where to place your book either ,other than to say it was a tension packed spellbinding read .Erotic horror if that was a genre. Can't wait for more from you but please give us a HEA ending this time .
Thank you, Susie. "Erotic horror." I like that. As for the HEA, I'll see what I can do. But my happy may not be your happy. I thought Break Her HAD a happy ending!
Well it did, but I so wanted him to feel remorse so I could believe that no one that twisted could exist!
