Thanks are due!

As we move into a new year with who-knows-what ahead of us, I'd like to pause and offer a sincere thank-you to everybody who gave BREAK HER a try and then shared their reactions in reviews or blog posts, on Amazon or GoodReads! For good or ill, thumbs up or thumbs down, I'm grateful you took the time to share your reactions. Funnily enough, I'm not good at writing reviews at all, but reading yours, I was frequently rewarded with insights into aspects of the book I wasn't even aware of (consciously, at least), along with some hilarious GIFs and comments. So I thank all of you, ALL of you. Well, except for that one....

Happy New Year!

Joanne Jones Will you be writing a follow on or anything to conclude the ending of Break Her?

message 2: by B.g. (new)

B.g. Harlen Hi, Joanne,
That's a good question, which deserves a good answer. I wish I had one. But I can say this. I'm thinking about a couple of possibilities, although they are more in the realm of prequels. I've been working on some other projects in the meantime, but I am hoping to devote more thought to this, to see if I have something to say that would merit a sequel. Any ideas you may have are always welcome! Seriously.
And thank you so much for writing and being interested. I really appreciate that.
All my best,
B.G.

Rob Please do not write a sequel!! I'm not saying this because I didn't enjoy the book...I did. I don't want to know what happens next. You ended it as you wrote it, with an air of mystery surrounding it. I walked away from it with questions and I liked that I didn't know the answers to everything. I liked that they were nameless and faceless. I think a sequel would diminish the horror, would cheapen the experience.

Obviously this is my own opinion, but I certainly wouldn't read a sequel because of what I took away from the story, would be diminished by a sequel.

Congratulations on a great book x x

B.g. Harlen Hi, Robert,
Just wanted to say thanks for writing, and for reading the book. I'm very glad you liked it. I have to say, I pretty much agree with you -- both in this case and as a general rule -- about sequels. I don't know what I'll do. But I can say this, if I do write one, it won't reveal any secrets. That would make it a strange kind of sequel. So we'll see.
Thank you again for the kind words!

Dirkje Abma Robert, I see what you mean. Ofcourse it would give away the mysterious veil the story wears now, but maybe other mysteries could fill in or expand this fantastic book???

I'd be more interesting in reading about how the (unknown) rapist became the man he was in Break Her. I agree about a sequel not being a good idea because the air of mystery does make it much more appealing because it fit in with the entire story. But a prequel about the rapist and how he became to be such a sick human being would be SO INTERESTING TO READ!

And also I'd love to read another book/series of yours, I am in love with your writing. It's so beautiful.

B.g. Harlen Hi, Del Rey,
Well, thank you, thank you and thank you. For the compliment, for wanting another book, for giving this one a try.
It looks like you may be one of the few people who will be happy if/when I get a chance to write the prequel I've been thinking about. I'll just say, it's not about Her.
I have to say, I have some of the most interesting and intelligent readers. And I don't mean that in an Eddie Haskell sort of way (Singles). I really appreciate the thought people put into analyzing and reacting to this book.
You make it all worthwhile.
Well, that and the fact that some days I get a little bit of money, too.
But not enough. So as soon as I'm done with this current day job, it's back to the keyboard.
I can't wait.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts with me!

aww. You truly have a talent made for writing and sharing my thoughts on your books is the absolute least I can do. You deserve all the praise and so much more.

And it's safe to say that I cannot wait to read more of your work in the future haha (seriously, don't even care what it is at this point, just as long as you're the author)

Wishing you all the best!! :-D xx ❤

Dirkje Abma It was not difficult to fall for this intriguing story. Whether there comes a follow up or not, this story will haunt me (in a good way ofcourse)for a really long time.......

B.g. Harlen Hi, Dirkje,
Thanks for this. I appreciate hearing about the story's effect on you, as I think about possible sequels or prequels. Hope all is well and you have a wonderful new year!

message 12: by Tanya (new)

Tanya I've been hoping for the prequel. Loved Break Her :)

message 13: by Joanne (new)

Joanne Jones Same here Tanya! can't wait to read that lol :)

Saunders i would love a prequel/follow up as there were so many unanswered questions that needed clarifying from book 1.

message 15: by Herman (new)

Herman Wow! how to follow something like this well I think you show deep understanding of abnormal psychology maybe a political thriller next time

Hot Mess Sommelière ~ Caro I'm not sure if you are ever on GR anymore, but Break Her has stayed with me ever since I read it a decade ago. While I have no real opinion on a sequel or prequel (I do think Break Her was stunning in its perfection) I'd take anything also you'd ever feel like sharing with the public under this pen name.

I read a lot and I forget about most works very soon after. That your short novel always remained at the back of my mind is a testament to your exceptional mastery of atmosphere & the density of character development you fit into only so many pages.

I hope you are living your best life and are simply writing children's books unsuitable for publication under this erotica pen name. (It would be a great shame if you did not write at all, though)

Much love :D

I thought she was dead. Cool thing she is still writing what she wants, hahaha.
