Interview with Ashley Nemer / Author

- Where did you grow up and did that have any influence on your style.

I grew up in Houston Texas. I don't know that I would say that it had an influence except to say that I try very hard to not use the southern dialect in my work unless it is called for. But no, I really don't think that it affected me style wise.

-When did you start writing?

At a young age I began my artistic side. In junior high I dabbled with poems. In high school I wrote some but mostly it was debate speeches. In college I actually had two poems published. It wasn't until four years ago with fan fiction that my writing became a needed post of my life.

-Who was/is your inspiration for writing?

Depends on what I am writing. For my mystery sites my boyfriend from high school inspired me. My paranormal/science fiction was inspired by my paternal family heritage. I pull from my surroundings. They say you write what you know...that's exactly how I feel.

-What is the greatest joy of writing?

Bringing joy to others.

-How do you approach cover designs.

Carefully. It's a process...one that it's always changing. I just find images that speak to me. It's hard to explain.

-What do you want to say to fans?

There is something for everyone in my crazy imagination. Just be patient and one day (if not already) I'll write something up your alley.

-Walk us through your creation process.

That is easy to hard to do. Mainly because my process is open up word and write. That simple. I very rarely plan.

-Tell us about co-authoring.

It is great, relieves a lot of pressure. Makes it fun and different. It's only something I can do with Stacy though add it takes a great deal of trust.

-When not writing, how do you spend your time?

Reading, watching movies, hanging with my family.

-What are you currently working on?

Blood Green, Sekhmet' s Revenge vol 5, Maverick touch: the Highway, Temptation Tuesday

-What is your favorite quote or line?

My favorite line from my writings is...."Bow your head little okht, it's time." Zayn says it to Nikole in Blood Yellow. Okay is sister in Lebanese.

-Do you write in silence or listening to music?

Both, but I do have a two hundred song playlist in Spotify that I only use for writing.
