Snippet

Since the days are counting down until the release of Death's Touch, book 2 in the ADIB series, I thought I'd give you a sample. Below is one of my favorite scenes. I can't tell you where in the book it takes place but I love it.
Enjoy.

He couldn’t wrap his head around what she was saying. Words failed him. In the next second she moved to sit beside him.

Her voice lowered, “Me with Devin never … it never felt quite right but I didn’t know why until I saw you, then it clicked. You’re the reason,” she shook her head, “that doesn’t make sense …” she paused and slid onto his lap straddling him. Her hands cupped his face, “Nobody puts their life on the line for just anyone.”

“Some do,” he said his voice hoarse.

“Well, say whatever you want, lips can lie, eyes cannot.” Her thumb stroked across his lips sending a chill down his spine. She ran her other hand through his hair and along his cheek. “You have to feel this too, it can’t just be me.”
Of course he did. He should say so. Tell her he felt it but he couldn’t. Even breathing right now might make him do something indecent. Instead, he remained frozen and silent. She stared over his shoulder for a long moment debating something. He hoped it was to kiss him, even if he was frozen she wasn't. She stiffened and slid off his lap.
No kissing.
She was pulling away.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt,” came Isabella’s voice from behind him.

That's it, keep an eye out at ellejefferson.blogspot.com for more teasers and have a great week.
