What does Season's Greetings really mean?
Season’s Greetings and safe and happy holidays to all!
Remember, Christmas is only a man-made occasion and all the things it tells us are available to everyone every day of the year.
Not everyone celebrates Christmas, for various reasons, on Christmas day - but if you're sitting alone and it seems as if everyone else is having a much better time than you, don't despair... think of something that makes you happy even if you've never experienced it anywhere but in your imagination... daydream as if you are a child... hum and sing loudly and ridiculously for yourself even if you're tone deaf and the only shelter you have is the overhang of a bridge... take a long walk in the snow, the sun, the wind or the rain… feel the texture of a leaf or watch pictures form in clouds... throw rocks in puddles…prepare your favourite treats for you and your pet and enjoy them as if you're royalty... wear your best clothes even if they're ten years old and bought in a second hand shop... light a candle into the night and burn a stick of your favourite incense... help a stray pet or give service in a soup kitchen… and tell your heart that you love you... because the gift of solitude and silence or quiet spaces are also a blessing ... and sometimes, you can be surrounded by people and yet never feel lonelier.
Take this festive season to get to know yourself, love yourself and forgive yourself. Let the past be at rest and know that tomorrow has validity and that your life has every promise and purpose.
For those of you who have no family or won't be spending Christmas with friends; who may not be feasting or opening presents - Christmas is just a state of mind and a choice. It does not define you, if does not define your journey through life, where you have been and how you’ve travelled; it does not define your validity or your worthiness and in 24 hours it will have passed and just be another memory. And your future beckons. Be there for the future… your future… your life is your greatest gift and you have something that no one else on this entire planet embodies… that is the unequivocal truth.
And for anyone lucky enough to be surrounded by a loving crowd, please try something different – stay healthy, keep the meat off your plate and let the animals have Christmas too - and give thanks and blessings for your life and loved ones as if there is no tomorrow, and mean it with all your heart.
