Gail Happy New year to you too Shauna. Thanks for the great giveaway. I think I have signed up for the newsletter. I was wondering if you could answer a question for me? I saw a Nook reader that was pretty cheap but when they offer free kindle books can I download those to the Nook too? Seems like there are a lot of kindle books...not sure how that works. Some people love the Nook and some love the Kindle better...still waiting to buy one. Thanks for you help.

Shauna Allen Hi Gail! Thanks so much for popping by! Well, e-readers are very personal business, LOL. That's a difficult question. What I can tell you is that I know far more people with Kindles or some variation of those or Kindle apps on their phones/iPads, etc. I do know a few Nook readers, but not as many. Amazon is a bit of a beast and there are more books and freebies there, and no, I don't believe books are compatible between the two. Sorry.
If you want my opinion (and it's only my opinion here) I'd go Kindle, or better yet, iPad or iPad mini. (I LOOOOVE my iPad!) You can do SO much with it for the money, including get free Kindle AND Nook apps and download any books you want from BOTH stores. Best of both worlds if you ask me. Plus so much other cool stuff. Hope this helps.
Hugs & Happy New Year!
S.

Gail Thanks for the info...much appreciated...guess I need to save my $$$$

Gail I checked it said I was already a subscriber.

Shauna Allen Awesome! And, you're welcome. It honestly depends on what you're looking to spend. Do you have an iPhone? You can get a Kindle app there. An iPad mini runs about $300...I know that's a little steep when you can get an inexpensive Kindle from about $79 I think for the "base" model. Not sure what a Nook runs these days, LOL. All depends what you plan to do with it. I love an iPad because I do a lot of work on it, too. Just get what you need and have fun. Happy Reading!

Gail Thanks...no Iphone just a simple basic phone...my husband is close to retirement and we only have the one income since I gave up my job 11 years ago to babysit our preemie grandchild. Now there are three of them and the youngest was a preemie too...so we have to watch the money we spend.

message 7: by Shauna (new)

Shauna Allen Well, then I'd just get what you can afford. Specials happen, as do giveaways from authors and blogs, etc. if you watch for them. :)
Get the Nook if you can afford it. I just think there are some less books/freebies available via B&N. You CAN also get Kindle for PC free for your home computer as well I believe to make up the difference if you don't mind reading on your computer.

Shauna Allen P.S. Bless you for helping out with the babies. I just stepped back from being a Labor & Delivery nurse so I understand what preemie means. ((Hugs))

Gail Thanks..I will check it out...mostly wanted it for reading so I could carry it in my purse for when I don't have my book with me and I have extra time to read. There have been several books I wanted to read but they only had the kindle version...

Gail Thanks...the oldest is 11 and a half now. He was a grow baby he didn't have the usual problems a preemie has. He did have the laser eye surgery and hernia surgery when he was a baby. He was 2 pounds and 11 oz when he was born. He is doing quite well now. His sister just turned 8 at the end of Oct. She was only one pound 2 ozs. She has had a lot of problems and still has learning problems. Sometimes it takes her a few minutes to process what you want. She is a very good reader. She really has come a long way. My daughter held her a year back in school so she is in second grade instead of 3rd grade..she went to a special ed pre-school at age three but when she started KDG. she was able to go in with the regular kids. She still gets extra help when it is needed. Glad you understand about preemies, most people don't.
