S.E.C.R.E.T. Revealed Exclusive Excerpt #2

In S.E.C.R.E.T. Revealed, Cassie has her hands full...dealing with the fallout from Will, and her complicated relationship with Jesse.

But I can't WAIT for you to meet Solange Faraday, my new character in S.E.C.R.E.T. Revealed. She's a high-profile news anchor and a workaholic divorced mom. She's beautiful, accomplished, and 41. She has a good relationship with her ex husband, but while his sex life flourished after divorce, hers...just...didn't.
AND, she's fast on the trail of the venal/mysterious Pierre Castille, so her involvement in S.E.C.R.E.T., involves the other women, and it's also her way of chasing after a big story...in Paris.
Here she is coming home to her place in Uptown--where her first fantasy is unfolding.

It involves a sexy handyman....and well, read on:

EXCERPT: S.E.C.R.E.T. Revealed

I felt a current dance through my body, instantly warming me. I told myself: this is a very young man. And you are a professional, divorcee, with a young son and a high-profile job in the city. It would not be fitting to flirt. With this man. Who is trespassing on your property. Who is fixing your house. Who is younger than you.
“I’m thirsty," he said. "I’m wondering if I can get a glass of water maybe? Then I can tackle the leaky dishwasher, that is, if you’ll let me into the house.”
Sexy man, this one. He had swagger; he had a bit of game.
Sounding firm, but not angry, I said, “You will remain thirsty until you tell me who sent you and what it is you’re doing on my property.”
“Well, I’ll tell you… if … you accept the Step.”
As he said it, as the words were literally coming out of his mouth, I knew. Finally, it was starting. The thing. The S.E.C.R.E.T. thing. My guide, Matilda, said it would begin within the month, that I’d be warned about some of my fantasies but that others would simply… unfold. God, how many times had I thought to pick up the phone and cancel all this sex fantasy nonsense. I didn’t have time for this. Sex used to be important. Certainly it was a big part of my life with my ex-husband, Julius, before things turned sad for us. But I was forty-one years old, for crying out loud. I had a kid. I had no business gallivanting around town, or my own backyard, having sex with strange men, even if they did have one dimple on the left cheek, none on the other that I could tell, and wore pants that kind of draped over their hips.
He walked over to the garden hose.
“If you won’t quench my thirst, I’ll have to do it this way,” he said, raising a cool arc of water to his lips.
I held up my hand.
“Wait, you can come in.”
“And?” he asked, letting the water run onto the lawn.
“And...”
My mind was scrambling. How would this go? Oh god, what if I am bad at sex? It has been a while…
“Will you accept the Step?” he asked, taking in another mouthful of water, letting some of it splash across his bare shoulders and chest.
I almost burst out laughing.
“Do you know how old I am?”
“Do you know how hot you are?”
“Are you guys told to say those things?”
“Yes. We are… but only if we mean it.”
He dropped the hose and shut off the water, standing stock still in front of me, his expression calm, cool, his beautiful arms relaxed at his sides, one hip cocked, his stomach muscles contracting.
I closed my eyes.

(BTW: My ideal casting for Solange is, naturally, Kerry Washington...am a little bit obsessed with her.)

Nina Let me just say, I love the fact that you have multi-cultural characters. I'm an aspiring writer and write from everyone's P.O.V. (as in race/culture). I feel like it's all about the human experience. With that being said, I love your books, I mean...huge fan! And as an African-American, I can appreciate this. Also, I see actress Sanaa Latham in this, she's a great actress. But that's the beauty of books, you can imagine whomever. Keep up the great work, can't wait for SECRET Revealed.

L. Adeline That means a lot to me Marlena--thank you for the support and spread the word--there aren't a lot of African American women featured in mainstream erotica (God bless Zane!)...I hope people love Solange as much as I do--and i agree -as much as I love Kerry, Sanaa is an excellent choice...

Nina Just a quick response... I Love Zane too! How great is it that you know of her and enjoy her work too. I write romantic fiction/women's lit and I hope to achieve what you and Zane have done...create characters that are strong, intelligent and sexual. There is enough material about the downsides of sexuality but what about the upside? Like romance, fantasy, communication, relationship. and that's what I hope to achieve...anyway, I've gone on and on and could continue. But this is what writers like you do...you open the dialogue. So, wish me luck... I hope to share a spot with you guys one day on a bestseller list. Rock on!

Luisa Andrade Can't wait ....

Jocelin I think I will have to have a little mini-marathon reading session of all the books together. I can't wait to read it! This series has just got me wanting to read more. This is what happens when a well-written character becomes real and identifiable by the reader. That is the true mark of a very talented and skilled writer.
