I lend out those ebooks that are available for it to a good friend. She doesn't always have the ability to just willy-nilly buy any ebook she sees; and you can't always find books you want to read at the library so I think it's a good thing. It's no different, in my opinion, than me handing a book I've recently enjoyed to a friend and letting them borrow it.

So nice of you to pass your ebooks along to a friend!
It's also very similar (at least with kindle) to borrowing an ebook from a library. They get 2 weeks to read the book and then it's transferred back to me. :)
