“Internet Kill Switch” Free Giveaway
Just a note to let you know that next Wednesday and Thursday, you can get “Internet Kill Switch” for free on Amazon.com. It’s a two-day giveaway, which Amazon allows for books enrolled in the Kindle Direct Select program.
The downside of this program is that you can’t make it available, for 90 days, through other sellers. I weighed the pros and cons of going with this program, and came down on the side of trying it out. It’s a little risky, to not make it available through other online retailers, but Kindle has by far the biggest slice of marketshare. If, after 90 days, the book isn’t moving, I’ll consider un-enrolling it and making it available elsewhere. Thus far, sales haven’t been great, but I’m trying to be patient. It hasn’t been out even a month yet, after all, and I’m a brand-new author (this is what I keep telling myself…)
Note also that you can get a free copy of a short story about two characters — Rick and Tony — from the book. It’s called “First Day of School”, and is available here. That story is getting good traffic so far. I imagine that’s mostly because it’s free; but if it keeps doing well, that may be because word of mouth is starting to spread. We’ll see.
