Pilot

Hello readers and randoms. Welcome to the start of my author's blog. Heads up, this is going to be strange and there will be a lot of posts about writer's block and other such frustrations. Bear with me, you may learn something, especially if you're new to this and you think writing is just having an idea and a keyboard/pen and paper/typewriter/[insert implement of your choice here].

For example, I'm currently trying to finish this story for a deadline, and instead of running into a dead end, I keep running into a false end. I think, "Ah, this is a good way to conclude things! Let me write up that falling action and be done with this." Then in the process of writing that falling action, I stumble across another conflict which ALSO needs its own conclusion or needs to be worked into the final ending. I know what the final ending is, but to write it now and leave everything else would be...unfulfilling. Now the 6,000-word short story I originally intended is at 17,000 words and still growing. They still have another two years of high school, for crying out loud! Intending to skip over most of that, but you get the idea. By the time I'm done, I wouldn't be surprised if this was 19,000 or even 20,000 words. I'm happy the story keeps growing and developing, but I do have that deadline in a few days...

So it goes.
