6 Degrees of SeXparation was the first novella I wrote, and I'm very happy with how it turned out. At the time of its release I was with a small publisher, and I was quite disappointed with the lack of publicity it was receiving. but the readers it did find had some great things to say about it, including the following review. 4.5 out of 5 stars isn't too shabby for a first-time novella(LOL), and actually, the only thing negative the reviewer had to say about it was that they wanted the heat level to be higher. Basically, more sex. But the amount of sex I put in my novellas is intentional. Some will have quite a bit, while others not so much. This is because I NEVER write just for the sex of it. Story/character trumps all. The sex is there to serve them, not the other way around.

This is why the reviewer remembered my novella a year after he had read it.

"In 2012, Rico Lamoureux came out with a wonderful sex story about six people and their sexual encounters called Six Degrees of Sexperation. Today, he is out with another novella for 2013 – Starving For Genius, and he’s here to join AfterDark Online for an interview."

If it would have just been another "sex story" it would have blended in with all the others he had read, making it nothing more than a faded memory, but story was served above anything else, which is why it had left a lasting impression.

Also, my view about the stories I write involving human sexuality: More than anything they're stories of liberation. For some characters, liberation on an intimate level is what is needed to free their spirit. To reach completion. Personal truth.
