Hello, I'm Bob

As a new author to this site I thought I’d use this blog to introduce myself to whoever stumbles across it. Firstly, although I’m new to this site I’m not new to writing and have four books currently available on Kindle; three fiction and one non-fiction. More about those later. I also have a number of new novels in development which I hope to get published in the future.

I already publish a blog each week on my website, http://robertcubitt.com in which I muse over various topics, some serious and some just for a bit of fun. This week’s is a plea to my Facebook Friends to share my blog more. I also contribute to a site called http://www.readwave.com/writerbob/ which specialises in short pieces of about 800 words. They can be on any subject, so they can take the form of a blog or of a work of fiction. Those I write mainly for the fun of it, but also in the hope of bringing a little bit of attention to my published work.

Each week I intend publishing my blog on this site as well, so you won’t have to flip between sites to read it, but if you want to take a look then feel free. There’s some free stuff you can download including extracts from my published books as well as some short stories.

So, what have I published so far?

First up is a book called Outlaw. I must explain that there are a number of books by that name listed on this site and one of them is by a guy called Angus Donald. He has taken the same premise as me to write his book which he published in 2009. Mine wasn’t officially published until 2012 though I had actually written it in 2005. The stories are, of course, different so I hope that anyone who chooses to read either or both will enjoy them. In fact, if you read this Angus, I hope you’ll take the opportunity to compare notes and write a review, because I’ll be doing the same.

The story of Outlaw is of a different sort of Robin Hood. This man isn’t the hero we are used to; he’s a villain of the worst sort. He kidnaps Maid Marion for ransom and the story focuses on her rescue and Robin’s capture. Fans of Robin Hood may not like this idea, but I hope you’ll give it a go anyway.

My second book is called the Deputy Prime Minister. It’s a story of political corruption and a very nasty politician by the name of Timothy Elgin who is at the heart of it. Protagonist and hero Clarke Nevis and his friends set out to try and expose his evil deeds, risking their lives in the process. If you don’t want to buy this book I’m serialising it on another website, http://www.wattpad.com/authorbob but fair warning, at one chapter a week it will take 20 weeks to read the whole book.

For fans of fantasy novels my third book may be of interest. Imagine a shop that only you can see; which can appear and disappear seemingly at will. What might such a shop sell? Well, the Inconvenience Store sells the things you never needed. These things can change your life, but not always for the better, but beware. If you don’t obey the rules there are “consequences”. This book contains two stories and there is a third story in development for publication later this year.

My fourth book is non-fiction and was published a bit for vanity. Newspapers often publish readers’ questions and other readers write in with the answers. Over the years I’ve submitted hundreds of answers to these questions, many of which were published. My book I’m So Glad You Asked Me That is an anthology of my answers. Its aimed at the knowledge hounds, the geeks and the nerds. In other words people just like me.

So that’s me, the author Robert Cubitt, or Bob to my friends, of which I hope you will become one. My next blog will be posted next Saturday and will be on the theme of political corruption, unless something even more interesting comes along which I can write about.
