It Goes On and On and On and On
Finished that novella for June. The problem is that I'm not sure it's done yet. I read it over and thought, "Well that's nice, but...what else?" I sent it to someone I know to get their opinion. Actually I sent it to a couple someones, but the first someone said they liked what they read and now I'm getting another opinion. Gotta make sure it's enjoyable for a broader audience. That's my advice for this post: have a lot of different reviewers on hand. If they all have the same world view, they'll most likely all give you the same opinion, which is not very helpful. If you spread out through multiple demographics (age, genre preference, cultural background, etc.) then you'll get a better idea of how EVERYONE will like your work. That being said, I don't let my parents or aunts and uncles read my work. I already know what they would say and I'm not sitting through that talk again. They are my characters and I'm allowed to kill off or send to the hospital whomever I please, thank you very much.
Anyway, found the short story I want to adapt as well. In its current form, it's not impressive. It's actually somewhat of a disappointment. That happens sometimes. When I first wrote it, I was all, "Yeah! This story is great! I based it on real-life experience and everything!" Well, guess what. My real-life experience was boring. I didn't get arrested or anything. Going to change that in the new version. Someone is going to wind up in a jail cell and there may or may not be a lesbian kiss involved. Although, now that I mention it...
Okay, that does it. I have to go before my imagination jams up and won't let me leave this scene alone until I write it down. Again.
So it goes.
