Muses… Who Inspires You To Write?

Just a little thought provoking blog post about Muses, since my newest book A Muse Is Born, is now available on kindle and paperback.

Each one of my stories have been inspired by real people, some I have met while others are celebrities. I think that when you write, you might not always be inspired by them but you have conjured up a picture of someone in your head and you might base one of your characters on.

For my first book, Something Wilder, my inspiration was a girl I met when I was touring all the Half Price Books stores in Dallas. The store in my book was based off of their main store location there in Dallas. It was fun to write, but I don’t think I would every want to do a book signing of Something Wilder there as I might get questioned about my muse for that story.

For King of the Kingdom, this muse story is obvious. There was a particular “Kim Possible” at Walt Disney World who was the spiting image of the cartoon character. She actually is the best looking Kim Possible out of all the Kim Possible’s at Hollywood Studios. Unfortunately, Kimmie is no longer for a meet and greet. As for the male character, I really didn’t have anyone in mind.

With Five Fingers of The Hand, all those stories were originally Hannah Montana fanfiction that I wrote, minus the second story in the book. So, my muses were the HM characters.

With A Muse Is Born, this book has been my baby for a long time and never was completed until recently. My muse for this story is Jennifer Stone, actress from Wizards of Waverly Place, maybe because I think she is perfect in every way. As for my male character, I envisioned a Paul Walker type guy, who is a pretty boy but can down and dirty if he needed to and seemed like an all around nice guy.

Do you have a muse? or is one of your favorite characters based off of something we all might know and love? If so, drop me a comment and let me know who’s on your mind when you’re writing.
