Writing a series
I was asked during a radio interview (yes, I'm bragging here) a couple of days ago whether I intended to write a series. The answer was, no. I just wrote a story that grew and grew. At some point I realised that it was way too big to publish as a book so decided to break it down, initially into two. The hardest part was to find where the break should be. I really don't like cliffhangers if I have to wait a while for the next installment so I made a decision not to do that with Fallen Angel.
Part II is due to be released at the end of May, something I'm very excited about and I hope readers will enjoy the continuing story of Robert and Brooke. But I couldn't stop there. I wanted the readers to understand Robert and since these book are from Brooke's point of view, another was written. Robert's Story starts when he is six and continues, in his words to the end of book one. It's not an identical story though. Most of the book is his life prior to meeting Brooke. I hope that it gives the reader an understanding of who Robert is and why he behaves the way he does.
I often read books written from one point of view but am curious as to what the other characters are thinking. I guess that's why a lot of the books from say, Jay Crownover, are so popular. She explores all the characters in her book, they all end up being able to tell their story.
So here I am with a dilemma. Travis is an important character in the Fallen Angel series - do I give him his chance to speak? I find him an interesting character and I think his life, his troubles could be exciting to read.
