Writing while sleeping
I seriously think I've developed narcolepsy.
Over the past 6-8 months, I've started to nod off a couple times a day. Sometimes in class. Sometimes on the couch at home. Once while I was driving. Always when seated.
Each time can last for a few seconds up to 10-15 minutes, and I usually wake myself up with a large snort. It has even become a bit of a joke among the students.
Today was the biggest incident yet. I sat down on my couch with my laptop to work on BLOOD MOTHER for a couple hours (amusingly on Mother's Day) and I fell asleep nearly immediately.
Over an hour later, I woke with two immediate realizations: 1) My left arm was now completely numb from being stretched out on the back of the couch. It took nearly 5 minutes to get back the sensation. Pure Torture. 2) I realized that I had the most vivid dream that was the solid core of an idea for a time travel/grindhouse novel that I need to write down for the future.
Maybe this narcolepsy thing has its positive side.
