Since it's Mother's Day, I figured I would post a poem I wrote for my Mom, many years ago. It still stands true. I love you, Mom!
For You
I sat down to write this for you,
Because you listen to all the poems I write about others,
I thought you deserved your own.
But I sat,
And I thought,
And I stared,
And I fretted,
And nothing came,
Because my poems tell what I cannot just say.
So what can’t I tell you?
I love you?
No, I say that every day.
I miss you?
No, you know that from how I hug you after we have been apart.
I am proud to be yours?
No, you know that from how I listen when you talk to me.
You are a part of me?
No, you can see yourself in me, in everything I do.
So, instead, I fear I must write what you already know.
I love you.
I miss you.
I am proud to be yours.
You are a part of me.
Always.
Love, Me.
