OFFWORLD...coming soon.

Prologue

Boom!

The ripples from the implosion sent chunks of rock bouncing off the solid bulk of the planet, invisible waves from the impact bending space as the sun went nova. The convoy of deep space shuttles were far enough that the ships barely shivered from the concussion. Through viewports bridge crews shielded their eyes reflexively as they observed the physical effects of the nova burst. Hearts broke as they considered the fate of those who refused to leave as well as those who missed the launch window. Earth's sun was now dead.

Without existing data to base deductions on, scientists could only theorize about current and long-term effects this would have on the planet. The drones deployed to survey damage and effects, recorded and transmitted images of ocean surges, hail storms, erratic temperature fluctuations and more.

Having visually confirmed the fate they had pondered for months, the crew went back on task. Relays meant to pick up and amplify transmissions from Earth, if any, were to be deployed at planned intervals. Disguised as space debris, the first wave was jettisoned while they were still in visual range of the planet. Engines were pushed to the limits, the intent to reach the designated point before fuel reserves began to thin. Another two waves of relays were released prior to them reaching the designated point, a confluence of galaxies.
