And now for something completely different...

The first independent publication under my “vanity” imprint Oblonsky Editions was the sex-and-murder novel BAY STREET. Oblonsky’s next project is an early chapter book for readers aged six to eight.

“The Adventures of Long-Necked Crane” is a story that my mother Valerie wrote for my daughter when she was young, circa 1980-ish. Our family has always held the story in high regard, and the timing of Valerie’s passing combined with the birth of Oblonsky Editions cast fresh light on “doing something” with it.

My daughter Gabrielle (my project manager for Bay Street) and I have lightly edited Long-Necked Crane, but want to keep the story and style true to how her gran wrote it for her. It is about a mature crane and his best friend a friendly bear, who protect and ultimately save a lovely swan from a villainous racoon’s kidnapping plot.

One thing we are going to change is the title. We have narrowed down to three choices, amongst which we are having trouble choosing! So I thought I would put it to my Goodreads community: would you mind voting on the one you like most? Keep in mind the demographic, and that it should convey adventure and whimsy…

CRANE AND BEAR STICK THEIR NECKS OUT
CRANE AND BEAR AND THE KIDNAPPING CAPER
CRANE AND BEAR AND THE SWAN AFFAIR

Any input is appreciated - and I will keep you posted on Crane’s progress!
