Without stretching ourselves too thin, we write. A single style of writing can encompass and reflect all that we do in our life outside of writing. And that is a beautiful, easy-going way to do it. Live-write; live-write.
But some of us have many writing styles of interest, and we focus broadly on how to put down on paper the observations we make in that "other life," or real life as my wife calls it. Some of those styles in my case include: Poetry, Song-writing, Short Stories, Novels, Journals, Dramas-including Screenplays, as well as Essays, and Articles.
Fortunately for me I think that each observation usually defines the method of presentation. Some things hit like a melody, some like a reality vignette, some like a movie. If not given a clear stage of presentation yet, I just start writing it down.
It doesn't matter where it goes--yet--only that I write it down.
