Fascinating survey (American subjects) by Bowker (which sells all ISBN # in the USA). More than 40 percent of people over age 13 purchased a book last year. Average age of a book buyer = 42. Women buy 64% of books, except in fantasy where it's 50-50. Baby Boomers buy most books. More income does not mean more book buyers!
