Teaser Tuesday
So clearly I'm sucking at this being a better blogger thing. I even missed Wonhundred word wednesday last week! This move has me so addlepated I can't even think straight. Matter of fact I shouldn't be on here now because the movers will be here in two days to pack me up! EEP! But of course I couldn't resist sharing a Tuesday Teaser. As always remember that these are unedited, rough, raw and no guarantee that they'll make it in the final draft.
“You look lovely tonight.” I didn’t even have to hear the accent to know who it was. The way that my heartbeat sped up as his breath tickled my ear and the electricity that crackled along my skin where his hand rested on my hip told me it was Liam. I stiffened immediately, urging my body to be still and not melt against him, hoping my heart beat would slow down and stop pounding loud enough to be heard on campus.
“What do you want Liam?” I groaned, holding my body perfectly still. He was too close to me, pressing me against the table but at least I could hide from his gaze. He was too damn insistent, coming into the shop every day this week and flirting. No matter how many times I declined his advances he persisted and I wasn’t sure whether to be flattered or flat out angry that he wouldn’t take no for an answer.
His low chuckle send a jolt through me straight down into my core and I bit my lip to stifle any sound that might encourage him. The buttery smooth of his leather gloves slid over my bare arms and I shivered.
“Just you Willow.”
“Well I’m not up for grabs so if you don’t mind?” He released my arm and stepped back and I ignored the feeling of loss that flooded me. I slid past him and turned to glare at him. His brown eyes danced, completely void of any regret. Not that I was surprised. Liam didn’t seem like the type to do regret which was just one more thing to add to my list of reasons why I avoided guys like him.
I glanced down at the case near his feet and looked back up at him in surprise.
“You play the guitar?”
Liam winked at me and held up his hands, spreading his fingers wide. “What can I say?” he grinned mischievously. “I have magic fingers.”
I groaned and rolled my eyes. “Are you capable of opening your mouth without sounding like a walking cliche or do you just sit around all day thinking of things to say to get under my skin?”
“When I think of you Willow it isn’t your skin I’m getting under…”
I just shook my head and turned to walk away.
“Ah love, I was just having a bit of fun with you is all.” His reached out and caught my arm, pulling me back towards him until I was nearly pressed against his chest. He slid a finger under my chin and lifted my face until my gaze met his. His eyes were serious when they looked down at me, unguarded. “I’m not used to having to try so hard to capture the attentions of a woman. I tease you because I’m nervous. I don’t mean to offend. You’re an intimidating woman.”
I ran a hand through my hair and tore my gaze from his, forcing my gaze over at the rapidly filling tables as I took a step back, putting some space between us. “I don’t like that kind of teasing Liam. I’ve dated guys like you before and it never ends well. Why don’t you find a girl who doesn’t want to punch you every time you open your mouth?”
His mouth curved into a wicked smile and his eyes danced merrily. “Where’s the fun in that?”
