$1.70 Royalties

Well, I didn't know if my book would be successful (not the really the point).

Today, I learned that since it has been out, I have sold two copies through Create Space and earned $1.70 cents in Royalties.

You know, I wasn't sure I would sell even one considering I do not have thousands to drop on marketing and advertising.

So, I take it as a success. I say all of this with genuine curiosity and surprise. The book was written under great amounts of life duress, starvation, homelessness -and even begging to use resources and materials. There were times I starved, was drained of energy, and hadn't the money or connections for an editor.

I take writing so much more serious than I ever have. It is not about just slapping something on paper to entertain. It is about "life", "your life", and whether people think that it is viable or will somehow add value to their life.

In a way, I am glad there are millions of writers -good ones at that (way better than me). But at the same time, it makes it harder to share, harder to speak in the world and be heard -even if it is only to have your own people here you. Mine knew I wrote but, when compared to survival, it matters in the least.

Post-humously, I can see my small work lying atop a dusty pile of used paper-backs, discounted to the original prices of a 5 and dime store.

But, I did what I set out to do. Collect my work written over time, put it into a book format, and introduce it to the world.

To whoever purchased my book I say, "Thank you." I will never see any profit so far as I know, although it is good to know that I accomplished more than I knew. An entire $1.70 cents worth of accomplishment written, made, and created out of literally nothing, and, my life.
