Image of the Week 026

This week I'm posting two unique images, both illustrations from the colorful alchemical manuscript Splendor Solis ("Splendour of the Sun"). The earliest version is dated 1532–1535, and there are only twenty copies in existence worldwide.

Here, the white dove acts as a symbol of the vital spirit (pneuma) that separates from the body.
