Lilo Hi, Heinz,

I already bought CAUTION: SNAKE OIL! last summer. But i haven't read it yet. The main reason: I am still deep into reading non-fiction European history of the 20th century. Another reason: I bought the e-version, and I always treat e-books like step-children. :-) I prefer paperbacks but buy about half of my books as kindle because I have run out of space.

Same story for your books of the series SURFING A MAGICAL INTERNET, except that I only bought them this year and have read part of book 1.

After not being able to enjoy the past 3 summers for health reasons, I am determined to make use of this summer season and spend lots of time outdoors. Thus, the publishing of my own books has stalled, and I don't do too much reading, these days.

I plan on reading your books when the summer season (with gardening, grilling, hiking, and boating is over). Then I also want to reread your other book, MY NAME WAS FIVE. It was my favorite book of 2013. Being very short of time, I rarely read a book twice, but this book I will definitely read a second (and possibly a third) time.

Heinz Kohler Thanks for your kind words, Lilo. Get well and don't give up on your book!
In the meantime, I have come across an interesting German book, about life in East Germany when I was there and later. I am reading the Kindle version (the first time I have ever done that, given that I also prefer the real thing), and it's well worth looking at: Joachim Gauck, Winter im Sommer--Fruehling im Herbst.

Lilo I just checked out the book on Amazon.com and on Amazon.de and found it to be published only as Kindle. I wonder if it will ever come out as a paperback. I hesitate to buy a Kindle for more than $ 4.--, as I might never get around to read it.

After purchasing approx. 200 e-books, of which I have only read a few, I now buy most books as used paperbacks. (They can usually be purchased at $ 0.01 plus $ 3.99 for shipping.)

We were already into summer fun dos when, yesterday, a wildfire came within half a mile of our property. We were called by the fire department and told to get ready for mandatory evacuation, which allows you 1 hour to vacate the property.

As it is impossible to evacuate with 31 cats and 2 dogs within 1 hour, we were rotating to get our cats rounded up and 20 pet carriers prepared. Luckily, we had help from our new pet-sitters, who provided 2 vehicles and a trailer because our van (#1 vehicle for evacuating the cats) was not in working order. It was quite an exiting day, and it reminded us that from all our must-dos, it should be our first priority to improve wildfire protection and evacuation plans and provisions.

During the last 18 years we lived here, we had 8 wildfires endangering our property. And in 2007, we already had to evacuate our cats (to a, then, vacant property we own in town) for 3 1/2 weeks, when a huge wildfire endangering our property for several weeks, burned throughout the summer.

We live here in a paradise-like area, but wildfires are a frequent problem.
