Driving “Ms. Lazy”

Time of My Life - first, click this for a great audio to go with this.  Wait out the ad, and click back over to this blog window.   (Listen to the lyrics separately if you have to, like I have to.)  This song is for both me and Marty, since we can both “chillax” now that he’s retired.

I guess maybe we should have read some books about adjusting to retirement, but we didn’t.  I don’t expect Marty to be “retired” for too long, maybe that’s why.  Frick and Frack (Marty and Lawyerboy) are always cooking up some type of scheme for investments, businesses to go into, you name it, and headhunters are calling.  Mark my words, he’s got something up his sleeve.  Granted, he might not tell me about it until after it’s done, but that’s another blog….

Plus he’s still pretty active on a bunch of boards, so he’s still feeling connected to all that corporate stuff I imagine.

On his first Monday morning really off, he was up early for an 8:00 am dentist appointment, he went to the dry cleaners, he went grocery shopping, and he swept out the garage floor.  Then he started the laundry and the dishwasher.  Is he crazy?  By 2 pm he had my week’s work done.  He’s going to have to learn how to     s t r e t c h     those things out.   I felt so guilty that I finished the laundry and unloaded the dishwasher myself when it was done.  I’m so used to him being out of town, I don’t usually rush to do much around the house until he’s on his way home.

As the weather turned nicer, he and his best friend, Spot,  went out to trim the trees and clean up the patio.  He’s been enjoying more time with Spot.

Most people expect that we will travel now that he’s retired.  Ummm, not really.  We will probably travel as much as we have before he retired.   You see Marty has travelled much of the 34 years at his job for one reason or another, and he pretty much doesn’t want to see the inside of a hotel room again.  Or carry luggage on his shoulder, or go through TSA.

He’s been Driving “Ms. Lazy”, I mean “Miss Daisy” around: mart chauffer

And he’s been cooking our dinners and cheffing it up at family holidays:mart chef hat

PS:  I did clean the fridge today.  I did a little something.
